Bentonite, Pond Liner, Geosynthetic Clay Liner, GCL, Bentonite Clay Liner, Composite Liner, Waterproofing LinerIn containment and landfill liner applications, ELCOSEAL® Geosynthetic Clay Liners (GCL’s) are part of an important trend toward the combined use of geosynthetics and clay materials.  For a typical composite landfill liner system, Geosynthetic Clay Liners (GCL’s) work synergistically with polyethylene and other geomembrane materials to maximise landfill liner system efficiency. 

In many cases, ELCOSEAL® Geosynthetic Clay Liners (GCL’s) can completely replace, or significantly reduce, the thickness of the required compacted clay landfill liner, by demonstrating an equivalency in advective leakage rate.

ELCOSEAL® is a New Generation Geosynthetic Clay Liner (GCL) made in Australia from quality polypropylene geotextiles and premium grade sodium bentonite powder. 

Bentonite, Pond Liner, Geosynthetic Clay Liner, GCL, Bentonite Clay Liner, Composite Liner, Waterproofing Liner ELCOSEAL® Geosynthetic Clay Liners (GCL’s) are fibre-reinforced by needle-punching the composite across the entire surface area of the product.  Unique to this product, the high tenacity fibres are then thermally-locked to ensure high long-term shear strength.
ELCOSEAL® Geosynthetic Clay Liners (GCL’s) are manufactured to the highest international standards and in accordance with ISO9001:2000 accreditation.  As the first and only Geosynthetic Clay Liner (GCL) to be manufactured in Australia. ELCOSEAL® has been at the forefront of environmental, civil and landfill liner applications since 1996.

Landfill Sealing

For either landfill final cover systems or base landfill liner systems (single and composite), ELCOSEAL® Geosynthetic Clay Liners (GCL’s) can completely or partially replace thick, multi-lift compacted clay layers in composite landfill liners and caps due to the efficiency of the high swelling sodium bentonite clay.

Liquid Containment

ELCOSEAL® Geosynthetic Clay Liners (GCL’s) provide exceptional liquid containment – in reservoirs, wetlands and irrigation canals, as well as effluent, industrial and landscaped ponds and lagoons, due to its low permeability and high internal shear strength.

Secondary Containment

Geosynthetic Clay Liner, Needle-punched GCL, Sodium Bentonite Clay Liner, Composite Liner, Secondary Containment, Waterproofing Liner, Low Permeability Liner, Landfill Liner, Landfill Cap, Pond LinerELCOSEAL® Geosynthetic Clay Liners (GCL’s) can also be used as a secondary containment barrier in above ground tank impoundments, due to the ease of installation and reliable pipe penetration construction. Cut-off trenches in cohesive soils can also be easily constructed with ELCOSEAL® Geosynthetic Clay Liners (GCL’s) to reduce leakage through porous embankments.
